Oh my lord…I’m posting something here. Who would’ve thought that, huh?
No, seriously now. There hasn’t been much going on at T-V.net for quite a while now. I know, I’m the only one to blame, but I just didn’t have the time.
Unfortunately, about two months ago things at twilight-visions.net got even worse because they updated the server to PHP5. As some visitors might have realised some sites weren’t accessible anymore. I however didn’t realise that until about a month ago. But when I finally realised what the problem was I decided that as soon as I have some free time, I’m going to bring everything back to life.
Well, last week I finally got my desired free time to fix TV and not only that…no, I wanted to improve it a little bit. Well, and here it is, the all new and (in my opinion improved) Twilight-Visions.Net.
But I’m going to be honest…I’m not done yet. The last 6 days were a struggle…
First, the new layout. This time my inspiration just wouldn’t come to me…it took me ages to come up with what you see now…and it wasn’t really a satisfying result. However, now I somehow start liking it more and more. If you’re interested you can read about the layout as always here.
Furthermore, I updated and reorganized the content and finally wrote everything (more or less) in English(which I’ve been meaning to do for quite a while). I also updated the links and threw out the inactive websites.
Anyway, when I was working my way through the graphics section, I realised that the brush and layout databases don’t work anymore either. I guess that’s also due to the server update Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to fix this yet but I’m working on it
Another big challenge when ‘resurrecting’ TV was the blog your reading right now. The old Cute News weren’t good anymore, I couldn’t get rid of the spam and it was just annoying me. So I thought it’s time for a new blogging system. First thing I thought of was WordPress, because it’s a good blogging system The thing is, WP is actually foolproof and really easy to use, as long as you don’t want to include it into your existing design I thought it wouldn’t be a problem with the help of tutorials, but as much as I like tuts, in this case they were totally useless, way too complicated… So I went for different blogging systems which I thought would be easier to integrate (since they said so in their descritption) but fact is, they weren’t It might have worked if I would have put more effort into it, but I just didn’t like them. I’m so used to WordPress (the control panel is so neat and clean ) so I thought I’ll give it another try. “Screw the tutorials, I’ll do it myself!” And look, it worked!!
I have never been taught HTML, PHP or anything like that. All I know about these things I taught myself. I’m certainly not an expert and it might not have been the professional way to do it, but as long as it works, I don’t care
So much for my victory over WordPress.
That’s pretty much what I did last week. Doesn’t sound like much, I know, but the WordPress thing(and the two other blogging systems) took up quite a lot of time. Anyway, next up is the fixing of the databases, which will hopefully not take too long.
There might also be some updates for the graphics sections, which I already have in store for you. So you might want to stop by again in a couple of days.
So long for now, and stay tuned
